FAQs
Have questions? Let me help clear those up.
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's totally normal to have some questions along the way. I’ve put together some answers to the things people often wonder about — from what to expect in sessions, to how to book, to how therapy actually works. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out — I’m always happy to chat and make sure you feel as comfortable as possible.

I work flexible hours and offer a variety of session types to meet you where you’re at.
I offer in-office sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with limited evening availability on those days.
Virtual sessions and walk-and-talk therapy are available from Tuesday through Friday, offering some flexibility to fit your schedule.
At this time, weekend sessions are not available. Feel free to reach out if you’re looking for a specific time and I’ll do my best to accommodate within my weekday hours.

Our first session is really about getting to know each other. I’ll ask a few questions about what brings you in, and we’ll start exploring what you'd like to get out of therapy, but please remember, there’s no rush. You set the pace. My goal is for you to leave feeling a little more grounded and a lot less alone in whatever you’re carrying.

That’s so normal, and honestly, it’s a sign that you care about this process. We can move at whatever pace feels comfortable for you. You don’t have to have it all figured out, and you definitely don’t have to share anything you’re not ready to. Our sessions are your time, and you are allowed to decide what you want to share, and when you want to share it.

I work with big feelers and deep thinkers — people who experience their emotions intensely, who overthink and worry, or who feel like life’s challenges are a little too much at times. Whether it's self-compassion, anxiety, relationship struggles, or life transitions, I’m here to help you make sense of it all. If you’re someone who feels things deeply or thinks about life on a deeper level, you’re definitely in the right place.

Booking is simple — just reach out to me directly. Since I work flexible hours, I’ll work with you to find a time that fits your schedule. You can email me at laurenbuspsychotherapy@gmail.com, or fill out my Contact form to get started.
If you’d like, we can also set up a free 15-minute consultation call first to see if we’re a good fit.

I ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. This helps ensure that I can offer that time slot to someone else who may need it. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or miss an appointment with no notice, a cancellation fee will apply. This helps to ensure my availability for others who may be in need of a session at that time.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and many insurance plans do cover psychotherapy services. I recommend checking with your provider to make sure my services are covered under your plan.
I’m also able to direct bill to some insurance providers for your convenience. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out and ask!
